I have a question I'm a apprentice in the electrical field my wifes uncle called me about him changing an old electrical panel to a new electrical but when turns on the main breaker it trips so there's no power in the entire house never had that kind of problem so don't know what it is what could be the problem?

You need to get you diagnosing hat on. This could be a hundred different things but if it's the main first thing I would try is turning off every breaker in the panel and then resetting th main. If it stays work on from there.

heating from a bad stab can trigger the main to trip. A bad main can trip by itself. But do yourself a favor, with all branch ckt breakers off and main off, test for continuity from load side of main to ground. This will keep you from looking like wil e coyote just incase you have a bus bar fault.
