Meter pan cover

1244 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  A Little Short
Was at work today and had a 50a disco right off the meter with some wires that where damaged. So I was going to pull the meter and go on with business. When I tried to remove the cover it wasn't one I've seen before all it had is a hollow circle about 1/2" no locks or tags. Anybody seen such a cover and know how to remove it? Thanx

im guessing you mean the meter cover. yes , those are old and not code compliant in most places. check with po co, it will probly have to be replaced
doesnt it have ascrew that tighens it to the meter base with a place for a seal?

No I believe it's some sort of spring mechanism on the inside that holds the cover
have a picture?
There is usually a lever that is spring loaded and the tip of it is at the top of the meter cutout, I believe on the right side. Sometimes you have to use a screwdriver to lift it up if it's been in there a while.
Just lift up on it and pull the cover at the same time.
