Found an add on the internet by Porch.com bearing my name, address and another local phone number. I called it and they claimed they couldn't connect with me but had other local electricians available. Funny. I told them who I was and they had 24 hours to remove that number before a lawyer gets involved. That is some slimy crap.

Had the same thing with a kennel we ran. As the only breeder of Iceland Dogs in Canada ( back in the 90s), those slime balls in Montana were trying to use our reputation to help their own kennel.
Not much we could do about it, except threaten them. They could care less:censored:

I just called the number, it's a tracking number, a little bell goes of and a female voice says,"This call will be recorded for quality purposes" :furious::furious:

WTF.

I do not want my clients recorded, and who the hell are these people to set up such a bull Chit service.

You guys should hear the words I left on the recording:eek:*********...:laughing:

So I just had a few people call the number assigned to my business, my phone rings, BUT no matter how fast I answer there is no one on the other end, and they always get the leave a message.

Really?

Then what?

I'll bet a billion dollar class action law suit that they redirect the call to a Lowes approved electrical contractor and I'll bet that lowes dictates the prices you can charge and takes a big cut for themselves.

This is from a competitor's page, it has their number, followed by this fine print.

*Connect with Porch Concierge. If your preferred professional is not available, you'll be connected to a Porch specialist to assist you.
It is not their listed office number.

fellas-they give all people that have a free account a number that redirects the caller to customer service-they want you to pay either $35 or $50 a month-depending on the plan. once your a paying member they dont mess with yah-if you pay $50 you get your name listed at the top when people seach your area

So I called the phone number, and got some guy at a call screening center(I could here other calls in the background). I informed him I was calling the state to file a formal complaint. That they would be taking my business off their web site. And that I didn't find it funny that after 10,000 hrs to get my license, the BS to carry insurance and the CE I have to go through to keep, that they could make a web site and divert customers away from me. I just got off the phone with the state electrical board and the Attorney General’s Office. I will be filing a formal complaint for stealing my business name! I'm sooooo...pissed!!!

Sent a fax to the Attorney General's Office, formal complaint form filed.

The fact is that the paid subscribers are first. The chances of people going further to search is not likely. I am on page 4 or so in my area and I doubt anyone will get that far. Still this entire setup seems wrong.

I'm glad you did that. What can I do to help?
