I just purchased the NEC on disk and I think its nice. Any of you all use it? Its the 08 issue. It had two downloads so I gave my partner at work the other. Just wondering.

I've got the '05, and have yet to get the '08 yet. But it's well worth it, especially if you have a laptop you can take into the field.
Sparky, I see you here a lot. I just moved to Indiana from South Carolina. I do Industrial work. Been doing electrical for 16 years and been reading the NEC that long. Got away from it from time to time but I want to make sure my work is by code. Im having some problems using the CD. I want to find where it talks about different volatges (sources?) in same conduit, raceway etc. You guys are sharp and help me a lot just reading your threads and post. Any comments would be nice on how you use the search bar to find what you are looking for.
I got my crimps for my c-24 today and used it on some motor terminations. It was awesome.
While we are discussing the NEC I have several issues of 1953 any collectors have a duplicates they want to swap. I bought the 1953 and the seller sent me extra copies??????? and YES it was on purpose they sent them.

Books I have are scratched out, I'd really like to fill in the 40's and 50's

In many cases, you need to learn the language of the code in order to search for something. The everyday phrases and words we use on the job site usually aren't found (example, 'outlet' instead of the code-word 'receptacle', or 'neutral' when it is really the 'grounded').

You can also narrow down your search by going to a specific article and then searching within that article.

Entering in different voltages will get you more hits than entering "different voltages" (both words inside quotes). Also try certain words in quotes with and without other words. I tried "different voltages" raceway, and got no results. In this case, what you're looking for doesn't appear, so click on Advanced Search and use common sense to enter words there. Bingo...300.3(C)(1). It takes some getting used to speaking Code-ese, but you'll get the hang of it.

Good luck with '42 and '43. Full copies are rare, most are supplements to the '40 (there was a war on, ya know). That's what I have, as well as my '49 is a supplement to the '47.
1954 and 55 are reprints of 1953. 1957 and 1958 are reprints of 1956. You also don't have the 1945 supplement, or 1952 (1951 reprint) listed.

I use the CD more than anything since I am a computer and internet junkie.
