I can't remember how much adjustment the Halo's have. Set flush, you are through the first layer. I believe you have enough adjustment at that point to get through the second. Whether you get a full 1 inch adjustment, I'm not sure. Have to look at the website.

Headed to HD in a few so I'll see. Used up my spares last weekend.
They have started selling Halo cans without the stamped bracket that is normally in there. Good for use on the better trims or led.
If you get the 1 3/8 adjustment out of it you should be pretty close anyway. I got to HD and forgot to look. In a hurry to grab some wiremold stuff.
I would worry that the clips wouldn't handle the depth or you couldn't get the housing into place because of the thickness of the material.
Talking remodel can, might be ok if they made one to handle the depth. Much prefer to have them up and wired and just come back and throw in a trim. Bit obsessive myself, could use another beer. Tomorrow's fun is lift driving olympics....
