First, off if I posted this in the wrong forum I'm sorry.
So, I'm from the electronic cigarette community on reddit. We would like to know if Noalox is ok to use on the threads of brass, stainless steel, copper, or aluminum threads. Most e-cig users use it to lubricate the threads to make them smooth. Its also claimed that Noalox can reduce voltage drop.

Yesterday the manufacturer (Zen) of a popular mechanical mod said the following on a talk show:


I asked Zen:Is Noalox ok to put on the threads of mechanical mods? What about NO-OX-ID-A Special?

His response: "Noalox is désigned to be put on aluminum and only aluminum. It doesn't belong on anything but aluminum. Noalox stands for No Aluminum Oxidation. Noalox has aluminum shavings in it, and by putting it on something thats not aluminum, it will cause a galvanic (I think thats what he said) reaction.

NO-OX-ID-A Special can be used on any PV."

Would you guys be able to shed any information & opinions on this matter.

If you aren't sure what a mechanical e-cig mod is I have included some pictures below. This is a e-cig mod made from medical grade copper. Most mods are made from brass, stainless steel, copper, or aluminum. They use 18350 to 18650 lithium IMR batteries.

It's a lubricant as well as an anti oxidant, primary uses are any disimular metals meeting .I use it on Aluminum contacting alloy, aluminum contacting copper, stainless steel contacting steel or aluminum.

Noalox contains a gritty substance. I believe its Zinc dust. Is that harmful for brass on brass very fine threads? Or copper to copper, stainless to stainless fine threads?

NO-OX-ID-A Special on the other hand is a Vaseliney type substance without the grit.

I think this is not the place to get the information you need. This is an electrical forum and not scientists. I would think a science forum would be a better place for this.
