Got an area where we are putting a new gas detection system in and all the wiring and devices have to be nema 4 rated. Our devices are spec as nema 4 devices. I have been going through the code book and can't seem to find where is says what wiring methods I can use for this area. I know I can just run teck cable but would prefer it to be in pipe. Can I use emt and compression fittings? Or PVC?

I might be talking out of my butt here but...

NEMA 4 is an enclosure rating
NEMA defines devices according to volts, amps and blade configuration but NEMA 4 is not a device rating.
Conduit use is defined by code according to environment, conditions of use, etc. It is not NEMA rated.

Having said that, when in doubt, use Teck. You're Canadian, dammit!

Where are the gas detectors going? Is the area classified? If it is EMT and PVC are most likely out...
