Hey everyone,

I've been lurking for a while and thought I'd introduce myself. I applied and took the aptitude test to be an inside wireman in Washington. Waiting for an interview now.

A little about myself. Currently a woodworker (custom cabinets and furniture mainly.) Was in the Army for 12 years (12B Combat Engineer.) 3 deployments plus a year over in Korea. Eager to start a new chapter in life.

I have some friends that are J-men and they love it. Can't wait to get started.

Have a good one, and Happy New Year.

We engineer the death and destruction of the enemy.

Basically, Infantry with a side of explosives.

Technically we're the subject matter experts in mobility/counter-mobility. If you want a minefield or an obstacle we're the ones that will place it or build it. If the enemy has a minefield or obstacle emplaced we're the ones that will blow it up. We shape and form the battlefield to seize every advantage for friendly forces, and to deny advantages to the enemy.

Back in the day it was mainly breaching and clearing a lane through a minefield, then hanging on to it long enough for the tankers and infantry to funnel through and move on with their rampage. Now days it's more about route clearance and IED hunting.
