Hey everyone, this looks like a nice forum. I am considering contacting my local apprenticeship program here in Jacksonville Florida and starting down the road towards being an Electrician. I currently work as a Quality Technician testing wire for electrical and physical requirements. Is now a good time to look for work as an apprentice electrician? I only make $13 and hour right now and don't have much future with what I am currently doing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I would go for it.
Double check that any apprentice program you enter will meet your local and state requirements for electricians.
I didn't when I did my apprenticeship with the UAW and now I am facing a situation where my journeymans card means very little with the state I live in.

Apprentice electricians tend to get work almost full time.
Once you obtain the piece of paper.. Better keep that savings account full up.
It's a rough trade at times but I love it!!
