Just curious if the Nexus wireless monitor 5928 is compatible with the new 20kw Evo Generac units. The reason I ask is because the older generators had the square knockouts on the back for the wireless unit and the Evo's don't, anybody install these monitors on the newer units ?

If I am able to talk the customer into having the basic monitor right on the other side of the wall from the genny then I will install the unit zip tied under the breaker door(inside). I don't push them at all because of all the problems I've had with them. Generac either needs to start selling a adapter kit so we can install the monitors in the mobile link location and call it a day. I talked to tech last week and apparently generac will be releasing a new monitor comparable to the advance one soon. I'm attending the dealer conference this week so I will be prying as much information as i can. Keep you posted.

Some folks have great luck, others not so much. Interesting to see what they release. I'm not too fond of them myself in the current form. I like the idea though. Installed my first mobile link a week ago. The only thing I don't like is the lag. It takes an hour and a half to get the text that its exercising. I don't know whether the notification of a fault comes quicker or not. Maybe the email option is faster responding, not sure and will experiment with it. Have another I'm installing closer to home, so I'll see what that does.

nrp I set all of my mobile links up text the homeowner if he wants & or email him & myself. I set the genny name as there last name so when the email comes through I know who is who. I have 40 or so in the field that test on Mondays @ 2 or 3 pm depending on daylight savings time. Usually my email comes through within a few minutes of the exercise. I also had 10 calls from undervoltage alarms from the "polar vortex" 2 weeks ago (in NJ). No response from generac yet on a fix. They want the claims submitted from appendix b undervoltage work sheets to be paid for a claim. The problem generac and myself found was that the brushes on the nexus units were freezing and not providing a constant field flash during startup

I had three undervoltage faults too. Two out of warranty, one in. Took the reading 4/0 and cleaned it. Back to normal. I know about the worksheet, takes forever. I submitted it as is. Hopefully they will accept it. Will experiment with the email. The exercise is one thing, faults are another.

I haven't yet put any moblile.links in a Generac or there wireless monitors but I've done the Kohler on cue and it's realtime. The great thing about on cue is when I'm logged into my dealer software I can see what's going on from my house . I can try to crank it , run loaded tests, etc and monitor real time with out leaving. As far as the notifications go there almost instantaneous because there wired with a cat5 directly to modem directly to Kohler server.

The mobile link has to bounce off of cell sites to generac server from the server either email or back to cell sites out on to a text . I'm sure a email will be slightly faster.

All the under voltage alarms I got were the generator failing to start because no cold weather kit was installed.

When I checked the run log, the generator stalled out several times before the undervoltage alarm. That's not a 0/4 issue, it's an engine problem.

When I got to the one under warranty, it was 40 plus degrees out and kept faulting on under voltage. Measuring 4-0, I got 170 Kohms instead of around 8 ohms. Pull the tins, clean the slip rings and brushes, add a couple of washers to line it up better. Back to correct reading and it runs and starts fine again. The first one of these I did recently measured in the Megs.
