Hello, I am a non union Journeyman. To be honest I don't know much about the Union or how it works. I have always been employed by non-union companies that usually do both electrical and data/comm.

I know that Union guys make more money then us non-union guys. So what is the benefit of working non-union? Nobody I have worked for or with has really given me a good reason.

So if a non-union guy wanted to join the union what would be the steps? And how exactly does it work besides your name goes on a list to work?

My company laid off 95% of us today and I need a new job ASAP!

Also, is joining the Union a good idea? I am the only provider for my family at the moment and I cannot be out of work long.
