I'm currently working in watford city north dakota. If you guys are looking for work... come up here. Plenty of work to go around especially if you live in a recepricst state. Because the test is hella hard to pass up here, with it being half closed book. If you get a north dakota journeyman license you can basically name your price!!!

Things that I hear about North Dakota work:

Few options on a place to live.
If you find a place, it is crazy expensive.
On the jobs that have their own "camp" the conditions are crude and the food poor.
The pay is good, but the expenses are high.

It would pay to have family there, like some of us do.

I'm so glad that's it's worked out for you.

You make it to peachy. If someone doesn't have a card they will not be offered a place to live(period) There is no readily avaiable housing for a lot of people.

The rental prices are like SF or NY $600 - 700 for a trailer lot and way more
than that for a real rental space.

It's a total employer market, they have hundreds of resume a day. The resume have to be exactly what an employer wants. There can not be a blemise of any sorts on your resume! The employers will not even talk to anyone unless they want to talk a future employee.

Anyone can see personal reviews of what's going on in this oil patch on
You Tube, (note the dates of taping) granted everyone can take it with a grain of salt, but you have to totally understand what's going on up there or you'll be sleeping in the Wal-Mart shopping center like hundreds of other.

It all sounds so peachy to outsiders, but try and find a place to live in Watford City. I have friends paying over $2000/month to live in small cramped living quarters. You need to make very big bucks to actually make it worth your while to come here.

But don't let me discourage anyone thinking about it. Just find living quarters BEFORE making the big move. Lots of folks that don't do that live out of their vehicles until they get something to work out for them.

I'm glad to hear things are working out well for the OP.
