I know around here its very common for nearly everyone on the job site to already have a nickname or gets one on that job, for whatever reason...

I'm most commonly called Omish/Bosephus/Yoder and another referring to a not so liked teacher in the apprenticeship...haha

So what are yours???

Accidentally bought a giant air raid siren once when someone asked me to go get a siren for 250VDC. It was the first one I saw in the catalog that said 250VDC, I never even saw the picture or price. It was big as a garage (the guy wanted a little klaxon). I got the nickname Air Raid for the rest of the time I worked there.

Mine is hammer. It was started by a foreman who had muscles to spare but not enough brains. He continued to mis-pronounce my last name. He then shortened it to hammer because it was "close enough". It was further ingrained when I became a foreman and I went through what some might call an excessive number of apprentices and journeymen in a span of a couple years. 20+ years later I will be at the supply house, mall or other public place and hear "hammer", what's going on."
