I'd enjoy meeting more members of this forum.

Who is attending this expo focused on the packaging industry?

http://www.packexpolasvegas.com/

I will be attending, spending much of my time at the ABB / Thomas & Betts booth number C-5228.

Please let me know if you are attending via a private message by September 26 and I will have a special gift for you.

I was interviewed by a electrical distributor about what I learned from conducting electrical system investigations at food processing facilities.

This video focuses on one issue I've seen at food processing facilities, leaking pin and sleeve devices resulting in the maintenance workers loosening the screws that secure the cord so water will hopefully drip out of the device. Our solution was to develop a IEC interchangeable pin and sleeve connector that meets IP69K and is our standard product, not some special, high priced alternative.

This is one of the many food processing industry trends, issues and solutions I will be sharing at Pack Expo in Las Vegas September 28-30 at the ABB / Thomas & Betts booth number C-5228.

Well, I'm here in Las Vegas for Pack Expo, but my body is still on Wisconsin time. With the convention not starting for another 4 1/2 hours, I used my time to publish an article about issues I find when I am asked to perform a electrical system investigation at food processing facilities.

I value the experience and wisdom at this form so please take a look. Feel free to private message me with your suggestions or ideas for improvement.

It's geared toward the industrial/automation market, I gather?
Yes. Attendees included:

Food, beverage and product processing manufacturers
Logistics and distribution companies
Environmental health and safety specialists
Pharmaceutical industry companies
Engineers and integrators
Facility maintenance professionals
And more.

I read 45,000 registered as an attendee. Another 22,000 people registered as something other then an attendee. I assume the largest portion of the 22k would be exhibitors. In no particular order, other non-attendee people were distributors, hired labor, & media. I'm sure I'm missing a few classifications. Each group was easy to identify because you were required to wear a ID badge like you see in my photo. Colors on the badge also helped us identify the persons classification.

Few attendees would accept literature or giveaways, other then items for immediate consumption like a beverage, breath mint or light snack. The convention is very large so I think people just did not want to carry anything. However, all badges included a QR code. With permission, we would scan a badge with an iPad. This resulted in a form on the iPad with most fields completed and a few fields remaining with pull down menus of commonly requested items. A blank field was available for typing, if needed. Requested information is sent to the person.

Although this is the largest packaging expo, it's much smaller then the consumer electronic show held at the same venue. That show is by invitation only. It is not open to the public. It gets about 140,000 attendees.

Are you interested in residential / light commercial? We participate in a show with that area of focus called IBS. It's in Las Vegas in late January. If you, or someone else is interested, please reply below and I will go find the appropriate information and post it here.
