doesn't the wattage load matter when considering the VA rating of a photocell?TOOL_5150 said:most photocells can handle 15 amps
Hello Bruce , Welcome to the forum..:thumbup:I have 347 volt metal halide lighting that produces a 10 amp load what size of photocell would I need? I calculate 3470 watts of power... Am I right?
Yes it is,you'll need either a higher wattage photo eye or a lighting contractor that is controlled by the photo eye.Hardwired... I have a 347 volt 1000va button type photocell, but I don't think it'll work on the 10 amps I'm reading ...isn't that 3470 watts of total power??
that's what I was thinking. I have an extra 347 volt circuit in the junction box. I'll get a lighting contactor wth a 347v coil and feed it my extra circuit and control that circuit with my 347v 1000 va photocell... That should work. Attached is a picture of the box that I am replacing two key switches with a photocell to control the lightsHARRY304E said:Yes it is,you'll need either a higher wattage photo eye or a lighting contractor that is controlled by the photo eye. Check the tork link in the post before .
None of that girlie 277/480 for us CanadiansBe careful with that scary voltage..
Normally open.I'm going to get a 2 pole 15 amp lighting contactor with a 347 volt coil. Will be controlled by photocell. Should the contacts be normally open? How much would this contactor cost?
Photocells typically don't have options for dry contacts. They're normally open and that's all you getbruce1964 said:I'm going to get a 2 pole 15 amp lighting contactor with a 347 volt coil. Will be controlled by photocell. Should the contacts be normally open? How much would this contactor cost?
Phone your wholesaler for a price. You're in Canada. Every price you get off the internet will be wrong.I'm going to get a 2 pole 15 amp lighting contactor with a 347 volt coil. Will be controlled by photocell. Should the contacts be normally open? How much would this contactor cost?
You can probably order a 347 volt coil ,but if you've got 120 volts there I'd use that with a twist lock photo cell set up.Thanks Harry, thought so. Contacts come in a de-energized state. Any idea of cost for a 2p 15a 347v contactor (open type) to be mounted in a box.
No offense, but an electrician with even limited experience should know the answer to your questions. Its all pretty simple stuff. Again, dont take it the wrong wayYes, why??
