Actually I want to program my PIC 18F, and I want to build my own PIC programmer, so if anyone of you guys has an easy and reliable programmer circuit that does not need external power source I will be happy to see it.

I agree, any circuit you find with an external should be able to run with a battery system easily.

I believe the number is 7805 (+5 VDC voltage regulator), and join that to 4 double A batteries (about 6.5-7 VDC) and you are good to go.

If you want to get fancy, add in a voltage monitor circuit that warns you if available battery is too low, and go to it.

Dont over think this.

this is with parallel port or USB?
