We have had a rash of transformer failures here they are all of Chinese make recently installed, saw one bubbling and boiling giving off black smoke it finally exploded in flames setting fire to a nearby police car.I rang the utility they they explained that the old ones were life expired well guess what the old soldiers were back sometimes carrying 300% overload for up to 10 hours at a time but due to large amounts of iron in the core, huge cooling fins adequate oil,etc these bad boys will probably just rock on forever.they are of English and American make, some dating from the 60's.Anybody else had experience of Chinese garbage. The old ones are about 3 times of the newer ones for the same kVA about 300.

China made anything: run and don't look back.

Those Chinese transformers probably aren't even rated close to the actual kva rating.
I think the POCO found out the hard way about these, burned off internal neutral connections, toxic oil inside, cracked welds etc, when a few of thesw were installed in the muslim area ,the rapid pop pop pop noise made by them made some think Al Qaeda had arrived and since some muslims are involved in heavy crime here heavily armed Police were called out.
