Why would you need a recessed exit sign? Isn't it better to have something like that stick out?

When would you have a low voltage switched outlet with a relay in the box?

I think rec exit signs do stick out from ceiling. Some of them look like new work hi hats.

Just means a clean finish from below, but all the guts and connections are up above. Like those glass ones that look nice and clean, some have a big box above the ceiling.

And how about the LV switched with relay in the box? When is that used?
