Been doing this gig solo for a few months now and wanted to know how you guys keep track of the receipts for each job. I currently use invoice to go that i find really helpfull but trying to organize my receipts has become a burden when I have a few jobs going at once. We are a 3 man crew so stuff gets purchased but all of us and I need to keep it organized :)

Yes i know invoice to go has a receipt tracker but has anyone used it? Only does pictures. Have also looked at neat receipt scanner. Just trying to get some feedback.

You can issue PO's for each job, and assign a name or job number. I take all my HD receipts and misc hardware store receipts, and write a the job name on them, and record to QB when I get back to my office. Keep each job, in it's own folder, except for the small service call tickets.

This has been my system as well since 1984. Ok so far.

That's how we do it. Manila folders and a file cabinet are your friend.

We do pretty much the same, then hand it to the office staff to enter in. They scan everything to Neat so we have a nice permanent record, and don't have to worry about storing all those receipts, especially the gas ones that just fade after a few years anyways.

You can also look into a company called Shoebox. They will take all of your receipts, scan them, and then enter them into Quickbooks on your behalf. Might be nice, but I haven't really looked into it yet.
