Hi guys

When looking for battery chargers i always notice specs that says Ripple voltage and Ripple current. could some one explain what effect this ripple has on the battery's/system ?

When you transform an AC voltage to a DC voltage to charge DC batteries. The waveform looks like a ripple.

new modern chargers (small ones) have no ripple (maybe 0.1v max at khz frequqnecy) they use switching power supply technology like a computer power supply. they cost less than transformer and are a lot smaller
