If a HO wants to save money I allow them to drill holes, pull romex, pull feeders, dig ditches, drive rods, sweep floors, empty the trash, erect scaffold and other helper kind of stuff.

I don't allow them to drive staples or terminate and I check everything they do.

It doesn't really save them $$$ because I'm always being distracted, but they can say they tried.

When I rough-in all wires are terminated in panel. All joints are made up and all devices are pig-tailed. That way my trim goes quick.

I think what I will do is adjust my bid and move all the costs to the rough-in. I will explain to him his savings will be very small by him doing the trim. That might change his mind and maybe he will see that I am trying to work with him.
With a conduit system, we are 60% done, recessed lights on, a couple of outlets for the drywallers: home runs for kitchens, baths to be pulled post drywall. I like your idea of front loading the job: especially if you are running non-metallic, you have to be 75% done when the romex is run.
