We have a set of louvers in a air compressor room. Fire Marshal said it needed to be tied into the lighting circuit. Plant manager had a guy run it to a light switch not connected to the lighting circuit and then mount the switch to a air compressor. What are your thoughts?

Need mo info. Why would you want the louvers tied in with a light circuit? Are the louvers controlled with a thermostat? Are they wanting the louvers open when the building is occupied?

In case of fire louvers shut so air is cut off. The line they ran is not tied into a shunt or the FCP. Also the mounting of the switch on another piece of machinery that is does not control ( air compressor nearby ) instead of out side the room or tied into a shunt with the plant lighting

What are you trying to accomplish?
You need a specific sequence of operations before we can help out.
Simply stating the fire marshal wants them tied to the lighting circuit is very non descript.

I'm assuming there's a motor on the louvers? If there is set a contactor in front of it and bring the lighting circuit to the contactor for control power.
What voltage are your lighting and motor.
