Are the Christmas lights polarized or grounded? If not, the fact that the ground isn't connected to anything doesn't really matter - although of course it would certainly be safer on a GFI

The best tip I aquired is dipping all male ends in either die electric grease or vaseline. Minimizes nuisance tripping from water entering plugs.
This HO declined my offer to install a GFCI and bubble cover while I was there. I told them the kitchen/bath reno was spec'd for decora by the contractor , they declined that too wanting standard duplex and toggles.

Nope, I'll be slashing romex for a while, got 3 other new builds . I'm on my last day tomorrow at McMiseryMansion doing tstats , doorbell and outside lights.
