My customer has a number of bedrooms (5?) equipped with one recessed light in the center of each room, on a 10" x 10" housing. I'm looking for a retrofit kit, or something that can be made to work, something that will look respectable without tearing out the housings and doing a bunch of drywall repair and painting. So far, can't find anythingl. Ideas would be appreciated. THX

Have you called the SH or any nearby lighting stores?

I did a house a couple years ago where we covered over them with a 4x4 flat panel led light. Customer seemed to like it.
I've found some 12x12 fixtures that don't look terrible, and the customer seems OK with them. I'm thinking maybe we can put a box on a bracket like THIS inside the original housings and mount the fixture to that, using an adapter like THIS.

Yep we just screwed the panel directly into the ceiling joists but with a smaller light I think your on the right track.
