Hey guys, quick question ive been in the field for about 2 months, so im not all that smart yet but I do house work for my mom whenever she needs, she asked me to replace a sensor light in the backyard. Now I took apart the old light and tested voltage and only 20 volts were passing through how should I go about this ?

What did you test to. You need to test from hot (most likely a black wire) to your neutral ( white wire). You do not have a circuit if you test hot to ground.
Yeah I know thats how I tested it hot to neutral I just dont understand why its only reading 20v idk if I should just run new wire from a new circuit im trying to avoid it though but if I have no choice then thats what I guess I have to do

Tell your mom to call an electrician, you won't be an expert super mario brother electrician until 6 months into the trade.
Its lights and receptacles and switches ! You act like im upgrading a service or re wiring my house ITS A LIGHT how the hell am I gunna burn a house doing by splicing wire thats already there onto a new light wow people get to crazy thats why I didnt even wanna post on here, ok mom call a electrician to splice black to black and white to white, who probably wont even make sure the boxes are even leveled.
You're the one who came on here asking us how to change/troubleshoot your moms sensor light.
