After all that's said and done, it looks like service work is the way to go for 2014, especially for a one to two man shop. You get paid C.O.D. without having to finance a large job and payroll. How do you keep the work coming?

Offer 24/7 services, list your cellphone and home phone numbers, don't skimp on material or quality, resolve all issues before they hit the grapevine, swallow your pride, crack the books, network, ask how they found you, do free stuff for civic/church/elderly groups in the area you would like to claim, don't try to make a killing on your first customers etc. etc
