Shocked from plastic deck to slider door.

I have a customer that is getting shocked when she touches the screen on her vinyl slider. The flashing and the door track is at is at ground potential. We have opened the walls looking for a nail in the wiring. She is still getting shocked. The deck is a vinyl product. Any thoughts on how to correct it?

Is it static, and is there sometimes a visible spark from her fingers to the door? I have a vinyl wood decking on my front porch, and I get shocked all the time. I often instinctively backhand the doorknob because I have come to expect it. Something about the decking product that builds up static as you walk across it. I can also often see a spark from my key to the lock as well.

She is the only one who gets shocked . Says it is stronger than static.

Have you tried to get shocked?
What is she standing on when this happens?

Have you tried measuring anything with a meter, even a death stick?

carpet inside?

Use a dilute solution of fabric softener 50-50 softener to deionized water.
Spray on carpet in front of door to just damp, allow to air dry before use.

Is it a momentary shock? Or can it be sustained?

I'd say static. Have her note what shoes she is wearing when it happens and when it doesn't happen.
Explain it to her that it is radio frequency from a Tesla Charger someplace within a 1/2 mile from her house . I love seeding Karen's

I had to install bonding straps on some HDPE dock cubes (commonly referred to around here are a jet floats) because of the amount of static build up and of course the owners were worried about sparks and fueling. I believe that HDPE is the same stuff used in plastic landscaping decking. I think composite decking is mixed with real wood and plastic.

Cheers

Static is different in every person.
We had an employee who would get shocked all day every day, and this is in an ESD facility.
We even had him take his shoes off for a day so he'd be constantly bonded to the conductive floor and it made no difference.

With respect to explosions at fuel dispensers when the customer begins fueling, then goes back into their car, then returns to the dispenser nozzle, that happens only to women. We watched video after video of these clips in Fire Marshal school and every time it was a woman. Nobody has been able to figure out why.

No one else is getting shocked and only happens when going from deck to inside. no carpeting.

Use your meter to try to find it.

How did you determine this?

Did you check from the deck to the door track for voltage?

I bet it's the type of clothes or nylon stockings. Slide out the car and get a charge.

We have some composite decks with metal railings in a park at work. I had to do a bunch of work there when the humidity was down last winter and I carried a piece of offcut EMT as an equipotential bonding device. Three steps and I got a visible spark touching it to the railing
