What kind of shop vac filters do you use to prevent all the dust from blowing back into the house. Standard filters don't seem to work real well for me. Hepa filters? Something else?

Are you sure it's the filters I have had some vac's that just leaked. That's the reason hepa vac's are required for lead cleanup.

That said I use regular filters in craftsman and a small home depot special and do not have problems.

One time, i was working in a lady's home and she was anal, so i bought another hose set for the exhaust port and ran it out a window.

I got lucky one day and bought a commercial Nilfisk Whisperclean tank-type vacuum cleaner. They're made in Belgium and one of the few listed for asbestos cleanup. The uses a hepa filter and a disposable bag. The replacement bags are something like $9.00 a piece, but they hold a lot.
It also came with five extra bags and all the attachments. :thumbsup:

You can get drywall bags that work well but they plug up before the bag even gets close to full.
Pain!!

Are you talking about the junk foam sleeves that come on cheap units? I always switch to a pleated paper filter and am happy with those.
