Sounds a bit different from the old "skeleton" service, which was used in rural areas 100 years ago -- a single HV wire, using the actual ground for the return.

It'll never go anywhere commercially...even if all the technical issues are worked out, if they transmit energy via skinny wires high in the air, it'll be easy to steal that power. Also, the wire cost isn't as great as assumed, because they need wire that's physically strong enough to withstand being strung across long distances outdoors.

Note too that incandescent bulbs don't mind HF power, but motors and electronics will need a receiver, and then a transformer and frequency modulator. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Anyone else notice the transformer looked like a big spool of Romex Sim-Pull?

3 questions/comments:
1) looks like they left the EMF participle dangling, i.e. the EMF effects may be much worse.
2) yes, smaller wire but still need conduits, power poles etc. etc.
3) did anyone catch exactly how they produced 3 phase from a single wire?

I can't make heads or tails of this.. is it real or fake or just nuts?

I had trouble with the translation because when the newsgirl was speaking, I wasn't watching the subtitles.

I did pick up one tidbit that made sense. The one engineer said "to the receiving transformer". That to me was stating instead of pumping electricity down a wire, they are pumping on one end and pulling on the other?

Does that make sense?
