I am a two man EC shop in California. I hold a C-10 license which is good for solar. It seems like everybody and their mother is getting into solar, many who are not electricians. Is this a profitable field to get into or is it too saturated.

Highly profitable here. A bit too much, a whole lot of startups grew so fast they blew a fuse and went away. The grid reached saturation just about all over and so now it is a bust.
