I used to see and use these for romex all the time when I started in the trade ('90 to around '95) but haven't seen one in years.

Anyone else remember these? Any one remember what the actual name for these was?

I used to use them before the black push in connectors came around. I switched over because the plastic ones were quicker, easier and cheaper to use.

I've always called the metal ones "squeeze connectors".

Must be an east-coast thing.... I've never seen them at all.

I have seen them in 2 buildings, 1- a office building built in the mid 60's and another in a house in Sacramento,Ca built in 1991.

Yeh, these romex crush connectors are real common in both West Coast resi and commercial past construction and are a real pain in remodel when replacing a circuit. I believe they are not allowed in new construction nowadays. rbj

Cool when i did residential around that time thats all i ever used (california LA area) or sometimes the ones that had two screws. Brings back memories

The newer plastic bushings with strain reliefs seem to have taken over for a lot quicker install time over the screw romex clamps. I still use the romex clamps on cans or other romex in-wall loops only. rbj

ive used them a couple of times recently just to get rid of them. ive always called them "buke" connectors because theyre made by Buchanan. i wouldnt use them on a regular basis though.
