I've been asked to install a strip heater in a jet fuel dispenser. It is sitting next to a AV gas dispenser, so Class 1, Div I would stay above the curb. My feeling is no, strip heaters run 1200 degs.

What are you trying to keep warm? There is electric heat trace suitable for Class I, Division 1 locations.

Sounds like a heat trace app to me. Look at raychem, chromalox, thermon... just about any trace manufacturer.
