I just swapped a 225 main and a 200 main. The 225 panel had more spaces and I needed them in the 200 amp panel. Both cans are rated 225.

Existing panel is 6-7 years old. I believe I can get the exact same panel and just swap the internal parts. (Main breaker and bus assembly)

Have you checked with the manufacturer? I actually found Eaton to be very quick in responding to a question I posed to them last year.

I'm glad you responded. It's actually an Eaton Cutler Hammer BR series panel. 150 amp MB. 30 cir.

If the parts are identical, I don't see an issue.

Many panel tubs specify which guts are usable in them.

No, it would not void the UL listing.

These days, simply opening the cover voids the UL listing........

As noted, often the interior will specify which box can be used, or the box will specify which interior.

You might need to go to their website and check which boxes are allowed with which interiors.

The code does not require that the enclosure be listed. I would have no issue putting new guts in any existing enclosure as long as you can meet the current bending space rules for the conductors. With older enclosures that may be an issue.

Update: local AHJ will not allow internal components to be replaced. He interprets it as a modification that voids the UL listing. Looks like we'll be replacing the whole panel.
