We picked one up at work, and where using it to try and find an underground line break and where not having any luck. The wires are in PVC conduit, and when we try the pulser, the needle deflects when we are close to the source and after 50' its almost nothing with the sensitivity knob cranked switch ends of the wire and same thing. Anybody have some tips on useing a pulser to find underground breaks?

The idea behind this type of fault locator is for the fault to be in contact with the earth to work. The conduit damaged?

Yes we belive the conduit is damaged, its a 2 inch conduit and none of the conductors have continuity to the other end.

Was starting to think the same thing, i believe part of it was trying to figure out how it worked and test it out. Will take a look tomorrow, see what happens.
