FPE and Zinsco are constantly mentioned as being horrible but they aren't the only ones.

In no particular order:

FPE
Zinsco
Monosystems (makers of imitation Wiremold products)
Union bakelite boxes
GE or Bell wiring devices
Colonial or Encore NM cable (jacket has the consistency of sandpaper)

"Commercial Electric" makes products for Home Depot.

I've sworn off buying anything with their name on it.

Gardner Bender almost anything.

GE, especially MCCs and other motor and control stuff.

I've had pretty good luck with their motors though, including medium-voltage ones, some over 1000HP.
