I am installing a 120/240 volts 28 amps 1 phrase Hotsy spray washer. The supply power is 480 volts. I plan to use a transformer. My question is what size KVA do you suggest I use. I have an idea but would like conformation. Thanks

1. I would install a 3 phase transformer readily available better balancing of the loads, but at this size...Well hardly an issue (depending on the size of the service and other 120 loads.

HAVING SAID THAT

240 VAC * 28 AMPS = 6,720 watts/1000 = 6.72 kw * 1.25 (at a minimum)8.4 kw which gives you a 10 KVA for a standard size.

The customer for the Hosty wanted me to put in a 15 KVA transformer. I have a 10 KVA in stock. I used your calculations to help prove my point. Thanks Brianjohn
