Stripping down a vacant electronics repair center. Each bench is loaded with Plugmold that is screwed down and has been there for decades. Is there a tool specially made to get this stuff open or other tricks to easily get inside? It's solid as a rock; very little give to it.

Plugmold? Use a 1/8" screwdriver, and gently start pressing and wiggling the tip between the back piece and cover starting at one end. It is better if you have 2. Once you get it started, the stuff will pop right off. Putting it back together is another case entirely, and that will require a block of wood and a hammer.

You really want to save plugmold thats been there for decades?

So, after you very carefully pry it open and remove it from the wall, what's next? Are you going to repaint it as well? Are you going to replace all the decades old worn out receps in it too? I'm wondering at what point do you think it's cheaper to just replace it?

Some stuff just baffles me....
