I'm trying to install a Maestro dimmer but can't seem to figure out how to splice it properly since Maestros when used in a 3 way application require you to change the splice on one 3 way and change it to a single pole switch and put the dimmer on the end, which is no problem for me to figure out. But when a 4 way is thrown into the equation it makes it a lot more difficult. So here's my situation... On one 3 way it's fed, on the other side of the 3 way it is switched (this is the side the dimmer must be on) the neutral is sent straight through and what's left is a 4 way in the middle. It seems i've tried everything to make it work. Why are these dimmers so darn hard to install!? Thanks for the help in advance.
Yes the dimmer does have a common. But when I hooked it up as per the instructions the 4 way switch did not work. Since the spice in the other 3 way was changed
When you look at the instructions, they only show a standard 3 way in two locations. No 4 way wiring is shown using a standard switch. You have to use the companion switch.
I stand corrected. So, why then spend the extra money on the Maestro, when the Diva will do the same thing, at less cost Unless you want IR option or like the moving LEDs on the side
