I got a nasty rumor from a fellow that has had multiple unemployment claims saying that unemployment insurance is bullcrap. He said you think your covered but your not. First hand experience, he said he still had to pay a claim out of his pocket the first few months on top of his monthly contributions. Is this even possible?? I have not had a claim yet as all my employees are stellar and have never had to fire an employee as of yet.

No. This is 100% real. How many employees do you have and have you ever had to pay out unemployment ??
We pay into the UE system it is a % of our pay role what we pay to state offsets what we pay to federal. . In our state you have to work 10 weeks to be able to draw from the state system and then only 13 weeks. After that you have to reapply for extended benefits which is federal. It is very difficult to deny someone benefits as the system favors the employee.

We pay around 14% on net take home pay. FUTA 7.3% and SUTA/SATA (state) around 7%. I thought this covered everything, I"m hoping this guy is wrong about this setup

employees do not pay into the system. Our % went up last year to cover what our state borrowed from the federal system. The state finally paid it back so we got a letter letting us know our rate was going back down.

Sorry, I really hate to be predjudicial. But, I just hired fired my 7th or so ex-union guy. They all talk great but when they work...He said he was one of the best, faster than the rest. They had to tell him to slow down and he said he was better than rest in his local. Well, basically he sucked and was slow as molasses and kinda lazy? I gave him a good week thinking he was picking up speed and/or just having a bad day or so but he never recovered.

I just got a call from a mad customer over "alleged" missed appointments by tech. He swears he called and rescheduled 2 only in a 5 month job and owner was ok with it. Now, the owner is 4 months over schedule and probably getting a case of the red ass from the wife and it's rolling downhill.

Anyhow, I immediately pulled tech off and sent 2 new guys to finish. Good call ??
