I would not want to be in front of that when opening a switch. I would not be in front of it when closing. Hopefully that is not medium voltage.
In an area of authorized personnel only?

Time for an upgrade.

I went to a mine to look at a control upgrade. All of the MV switch gear was open bus on the front and back. I looked down the hall way and shook my head.
This was the only place that I have ever been where when the bell went off for load shedding they dumped the administration building all 4 floors. Then they slammed their 4 30 year old steam generators loafing along at 10 megs each to 20 megs (full capacity).
I took coupous notes and went back to the boss and said no way in h_ll. End of discussion.

When disconnects don’t operate for 10+ years, don’t expect it to go well. Blades can stick in, linkages break, springs break. It’s not a pretty sight. Go in full arc flash. It is vastly preferable though to pull cutouts or trip breakers upstream. That stuff is THAT dangerous when it doesn’t get used or repaired.

Disconnects like the little Socomec ones are very easy to retrofit anywhere, and inexpensive.
