I was looking at some LED R30 replacements for my brother when I came across these things. They claim to last 11,000 hours, have high power factor, dim using regular incandescent dimmers and don't need any special disposal arrangements. Apparently it works like a CRT. The company only makes one lamp, which uses 19.5 watts. The lamp is UL listed and has a claimed CRI of 90 or over. Googling around I was able to find it for $14.95.

I would at least like to try one since they claim the quality of light is better than LED or CFL. Has anyone tried or seen one?
