I have a call back on a renovation job I did a year ago regarding a wood burning stove. As I recall, the wiring diagram was really vague but the fan doesn't go on until the internal temperature gets to a certain point. I won't know what I'm troubleshooting until I get there but the HO doesn't think it's working properly. Any tips on troubleshooting this thing and verifying that the fan control works without actually building a fire?

Checked the owner's manual and it seems straightforward - a speed control and thermal switch in series and that's it. If I short those out and the blower goes on, it's someone else's issue to fix.

Depending on the style of the switch, a number of them have a high limit cutout built into the fan switch. I'd have pulled the switch out and checked the sensor for soot buildup. Did it have an adjustable differential?
