we are a service business so we are always looking to be as efficient as possible. One of the major things we do is insure that our vans are stocked with the material to complete the job. Nothing loses a customer faster than having to leave to go get parts. Next is dispatching. We color code our service areas so we can match them with the tech in that area so we limit drive time. Training is also a big part of the equation we spend time each week discussing the different service calls and how they were approached.

5. We install over 300 generators a year so our trucks all have generator carts, 500 foot spools of 7 conductor tray cable for the control wiring, ramps for removing the generator from the truck.
have you considered devoting one truck to gen installs? Seems every truck having a 500ft spool of control wire is a waste and a cart and ramp in every truck takes up real estate.

We have three that are set up for genset installs and can go to a forth if necessary. After an "event" we often do three a day.
I am looking at a four wheel drive flat bed with a boom arm . It has storage bins and can carry three to four gensets. The idea would be for it to deliver and set the generator and then a tech would follow up on the install.

In order to beat that method Flyboy could counter with ariel drops from his plane . Just push the 20 kva's out the side door when making an overhead pass. A little practice and you could get em within a foot or two of the intended parking space.
Do a HALO so the competition would never see you comming
