Here are a couple of things that you will need to arrange before you can work as an electrician in NZ.
You will need a work visa from the NZ govt.
You will also need an electrical practicing license. If you are already qualified in Canada then that will count towards the license but you would still need to pass the electrical regulations exam and a practical assessment.
It should be fairly easy to find work here. In Christchurch especially, where the city is being rebuilt after the earthquake, tradesmen are all busy and we have a small army of English, Irish and South African tradesmen helping to make up the shortfall.
