big sales around Father's Day and Christmas where they sell the tools with a battery and charger for about the same price as without the battery and charger.

A warning: these tools are almost always in-house knockoffs. Black Friday tool deals, if you check the model#, are different than their standard contractor-grade tools. Usually inferior/cheaper parts that aren't apparent on the outside of the tool.

Not sure about the batteries, but I can easily see them being inferior as well.

True. But the tool you buy from the supply house is the same model number and quality as the one from Home Cheapo

Except when the model number is different because it's a "sale".
Milwaukee might not do that, but other brands certainly do.
