Lefties, which way do you twist cables?

To all the left handers out there.

Which way do you twist your cables, clockwise or anti clockwise?

I was taught to conform with the masses and twist clockwise, but as a lefty its not much fun...

Just getting these guys to twist their wires together would be a big plus:thumbsup:

To me, unless they start making left handed wire nuts you don't have a choice. You're not conforming to the masses, you're doing it the only way it will work. I've met plenty of left handed sparkies with the same gripe.

Back in my apprenticeship I tried it once in front of a journeyman on new construction,when he had to add a circuit to the system he swore so loud I heard him at the the other end of the building, lol. He couldn't get it apart. It was binded so bad in the marrett he had to cut it off (being cheap for a $0.03 marrett, it was a big deal to him, lol.

But I agree with mcclary's electrical, there is only one way to install them- the correct way.

I have found a big concentration of fellow south paws in the trades though, not just electrical either. Pretty neat.

Twisting clockwise is like anything else to a left handed person once you get used to it, the motion becomes second nature. And there is no better reason to start twisting clockwise then to have your boss having a "heart to heart" with you on having to waste time and manpower sending someone to correct your connections. Today I watch all my helpers right in the begining to see who is a lefty and clue them in right away, before they have to go through what I went through.

As McClary said, the only way is the right way.

I am a lefty and it is no big deal to me at all. I don't even think about it.



Everybody is born right-handed. Only the gifted overcome it.
