I went on the interview for the new residential division 2 months ago. I sat down with two guys at the hall for about ten mins. They gave me a 1 page print of a small apartment and asked me a few questions like how many conductors in this 3 way, how many conductors to the fan light combo, real basic questions. They are supposed to call me back for the "boot camp" practical portion of the interview. I have not gone yet but my buddy did it last week. He told me they put you in a 10'x10' stud framed room with a panel (installed) breakers (not installed) a roll of 12/2mc and 12/3mc some boxes and brackets etc. They provide the drill you bring the hand tools. They give you two dwgs electrical and architectural and tell you to wire up "grandmas kitchen" or whatever they call it. My buddy said there is a 3 way switch, gfci breaker, microwave ckt etc. Just make sure to check the architectural dwgs for shelf height backsplash height etc my friend said something on the architectural dwg was conflicting with one of the receptacles. This is what I've heard about the new division thats opening up (someday). I believe there is another type of boot camp for the regular local 3 guys, something about wiring up a transformer start stop switch etc but I am not sure no one I know has been to that "boot camp".
