OK folks, we can argue about anything so maybe this will be the new ground s up or down debate.

If you are using electrical tape do you stretch each wrap as you go until the last couple of wraps which you do not put any tension on?

IMO that is the correct way and eliminates the tape end creeping backward and becoming loose.

Next if you are taping something temporarily do you leave a tape flag so it is easy to remove?

Let me get the argument started.......

You're a hack....why would you do it that way?
Flags on the end of the tape are for hacks.
You suck
Are you really an electrician??

Did I forget anything???

Seriously though......I do it the same way. Especially the little flag on the end of anything temporary.

Christ me kill me, my biggest pet peeve. Guys working for me for years will sometimes not flag a PVC 2' down in a wet ditch. Why was that conduit different from the thousands of others we have done???

You frickin lay in the dirt on your belly with your knife and get that off dill weed.:censored::censored::censored:

Don't be a ***, leave a flag. Be a friend, leave an end.

Union guys have time to come up with all these mottos.

I only leave an end when it will be taken off.

Yes, I always wrap tight and then leave the last wrap loose because if you make it tight it will recoil back and leave exposed adhesive which on black tape is like tar that is hard to get off your hands.

Yes and yes.

I always use good tape too.
:censored::no: :jester:

I keep great tape and cheap tape in the truck, I refuse to use good tape when cheap tape will do. It goes against my Yankee up bringing.

Better question is how to you tape your phase markings?
HEY!

Don't derail my thread with off topic nonsense.

I use a lot of phase tape, many will say too much, and they are right.

I have seen guys mark phases with one finger in center of the tape and run a few circles..:eek::no:

I always stretch and overlap my tape.. NEVER use the "barber pole" effect for conductors by the weather head..

It becomes a ribbon blowing in the breeze in a few years..:no:

Heres a tip having to do with tape and flags. Many times when using a rotohammer and drilling holes for wedge anchors I will use tape to mark the depth that I need to drill for the anchor. If you leave a flag on the tape it works well to clean up the concrete left around the hole by the drill bit:thumbsup:

The "tape flag" is really called the Dolan because that's the guy who invented the technique.
