It feels like finish work is more a pain for me because you are being rushed and you have to walk gingerly around appliances and granite.. I also hate explaining arc faults and why stuff isn't working..lol I also hate dragging all the excess material back on the truck without being given time to organize it... What I do love about it is that I am in the warmth of a new home and not freezing my butt off striping petrified romex wire and touching cold recessed cans..

Here is what I do:

During rough-in, I do everything possible to make finishing easy. I Wago temporary splices at my receptacles and switches. Then I fire up my circuits and test everything. That tells me if anything was missed and if I have any arc faults. I test all my recessed cans with a light bulb. I had a bad run a while back with bad Halo socket connections.

Sometimes I do a pre-finish, installing devices, etc. before finish paint. That helps alleviate the chaos three days before occupancy. I also like to hang undercabinet lighting before the countertops go in.

Clean white cotton gloves if you have to lift any ceiling tiles......anything else can be touched up but I have used the baby wipes idea as well. They're great for wiping up your hands before having a bite to eat too if you're in a spot with no wash up areas.

Finishing is much more of a pain. I enjoy tearing around recklessly mounting boxes and pulling wire like the 6'1, 250 lbs. behemoth that I am. I do not enjoy having tight plugging/switching deadlines from the boss whilst the GC insists on breathing down our necks with their stupid point-and-shoot cameras digging for dirt we may or may not have caused.

I love finish work..take that anyday. And it's like someone already said, if you do a good rough the finish should be a breeze.
You can do a good rough and still have a ****ty finish...Example: boss gives you four days to finish but the gc and homeowner change their minds on things also the whole "the lights didn't come in yet or they bought lights but no bulbs... You tell boss this but he doesn't want to do to many change orders because he likes the builder blah blah...
