That's nice, but They wouldn't need an electrician in that case.

The plumber could easily wire it back up after he pulled the old WH out.

That is what happens when local authorities let plumbers, refrigeration and gas fitters connect the electrical .
Everyone chips away at our trade:vs_mad::vs_mad::vs_mad::vs_mad:

Those small Insta-Hots are 240v 20Amp, aren't they? Usually they fit under a sink or something, can they handle an entire bathroom or kitchen?
The 20A ones can really only handle a sink.

I installed a small, $180, 8KW tankless to replace my traditional hot water tank at my summer cabin. It worked good enough to handle the shower and it was small enough to easily fit under the kitchen sink.

Of course it was like 31 amps so I sucked it up and ran a new circuit even though my old 30A was right there.

Then, I went up there when it was snowing and it didn't quite cut it. :vs_mad: It was a gamble that didn't pay off as well as I had hoped. Im not there too much in the winter so I will probably just leave it.

I like the small 30 amp or less ones at the sink. Those make excellent sense , especially for break rooms in other than dwellings.

Places with showers and bathtubs though out to go some other directions than electrical in use. Solar heat tanks are excellent in my location, they only need to rely on the house electrical backup supply maybe three or four days out of a year. The rest of the time it's an overabundance of hot water available for just the cost of the original installation and a bit for maintenance.

yes , I wired a garage that had been converted to a lake home(small sq footage with upstairs) The owner was against gas for some reason and had about a 28 kw tankless water heater, baseboard heat electric stove. After doing load calcs I had to change the service to a 320 amp and had to feed two panels.I just remembered how ridiculous it appeared on such a small footprint.

Just to comment I have a 24kw tankless in my shop which has a shower and bathroom I like the on demand Electric it has given me no problems as of yet and provides hot water for the one bathroom never ran out of hot water taking showers. Not continually heating water when there is not that much demand as my house which I have an off peak Marathon 100 gallon.
